The Rogue PrinceHouse Of The Dragon : Season 1 ... EXCLUSIVE

Warning: SPOILERS for House of the Dragon season 1, episode 2, "The Rogue Prince."House of the Dragon has teased its forthcoming dragon battles, which will make up for Game of Thrones' shortage of combat between winged creatures. As a prequel to one of TV's most popular shows, HBO's House of the Dragon follows in Game of Thrones' enormous footsteps with much to live up to, though the spinoff holds a major advantage in terms of dragons. Game of Thrones, based on George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire novels, denoted dragons as House Targaryen emblem and explored their history with the creatures. However, the show featured only a few living dragons, which naturally limited the potential of them coming into conflict. House of the Dragon's first two episodes showcase the series' mythical beasts and foreshadow the dragon fights Game of Thrones failed to deliver.

The Rogue PrinceHouse of the Dragon : Season 1 ...

Game of Thrones' shortage of combat between dragons resulted from the show's dearth of dragons themselves. As one of the lone Targaryens in the series and the only to possess winged beasts, Daenerys (Emilia Clark) used Drogon, Rhaegal, and Viserion as her protectors, though most of the dragons' adversaries were not of the same species. Game of Thrones' lone dragon battle transpired in season 8, episode 3, "The Long Night," though the strife was brief and extremely dark. Since Game of Thrones was set during an era when dragons were largely believed extinct due to the Targaryens' fall, the series was inevitably prevented from fully exploring its mystical creatures and pitting them against one another. With the Targaryens having ruled Westeros for almost two centuries prior to Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon presents the prime opportunity to emphasize dragons' forceful impact on Westeros' wars. 041b061a72
